At Prodrive Technologies we believe in automation, automation of everything. Not only for our customers, but also for our own manufacturing facilities. The Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) is an important project in realizing our automation dream; it is the missing link between all other automated processes.
The AGV is a complex system which is in-house developed and manufactured. In order to design customer specific AGV in a fast and efficient way, the system is decomposed in several subsystems, i.e., wheel motor drive, lift motor drive, auxiliary bus, main controller module, navigation module, detection sensors, all exchangeable and each system having its own electronic, mechanical and software design.
This versatile vehicle is able to automatically transport payloads from a given origin to a destination. The AGV is able to do this efficiently in diverse and changing environments. Using multiple AGVs together in one environment imposes extra challenges, which are solved by our Fleet Management System (FMS). Controlling and retrieving statistics from an AGV is done with use of the dashboard, which is the graphical user interface of the AGV solution.
Bas has an educational background in Electrical Engineering at Fontys University Eindhoven followed by a Master in Embedded Systems at the TU/e. He started his career as a Software Engineer at Prodrive Technologies during his Master. At Prodrive Bas has worked on projects in various markets, e.g. a home automation cloud, software for high-end digital cameras and MRI scanner control boards. Currently he is the Software Architect of the AGV project and its Fleet Management System.
