In an ethical hacking project, cyber security students tested security aspects of a logistics robotics environment. Several security issues where found. It was possible to manipulate the map that the robot used for navigating and to intercept network traffic from the fleet manager to the logistic robot. Once the robot was hacked it was possible to steal the robot, use the robot to attack humans, gather information from robot and fleet manager. Does this mean that all robotics environments suffer from security vulnerabilities? Yes, probably! The talk will also discuss what typical threats are, who the threat actors might be, mitigating actions and controls and how security should be improved in the domain of industrial robotics.
