AI, Big Data, Deep Learning, Machine Learning headliners are terms storming the newspapers. Whether it's Self-driving cars, Amazon, killer robots, the world champion in Go, Google Translate or sniffing out cancer, AI seems to be targeted at big challenges with even bigger budgets. This however is only part of picture: in the past few years it has become easier to build useful AI-enabled practical applications with limited budgets and timelines. This is no longer a 'Big Tech' only domain. Starting with getting the terminology right (AI is a bit of a misnomer), we will zoom in specifically on deep learning in the vision and fashion domain, with some hands on practical examples of what can be done and we are doing today, and how especially powerful technology can become with one starts combining capabilities in novel ways, e.g. combining Virtual Reality and AI, or IoT and Self-learning. We'll also place the new horizons opening up in context of the earlier step changes like the Internet or Web, and some practical advice on how to navigate the AI-enabled business world.
