We are designing a high tech environmental and insect mortality monitoring station that uses bee's (without harming them) as sensors.
The high-tech environmental analysis monitor project (BATMAN) aims to realize real-time monitoring of our living environment by using tens of thousands of biosensors (the bees) per installation (beehive with data acquisition system). During the flight and pollination of plants up to 3 km, these biosensors collect all kinds of substances in every direction, including contaminants from our environment. Research does not only show that these substances can be measured, but through image recognition we also know where the bees have been. The goal is to measure the quality of our environment and what does this do with the bees (insect mortality).
