Moral programming: ethics at the front door

Human ethics and machine-ethics are two different but related things. I will adress the issue of moral programming and how it relates to ancient moral philosophy. Deontic logic is a tool that can be used to program the more absolutist moral approaches, which is pretty much the ethics people do not do. Therefore we need to rethink our Ethical Desicion Making Models (EDMs) when we try to answer the following questions:
1) who decides on moral programming of smart technology
2) how do we want it to be programmed when it interacts with us

About Bart

Mr. Dr. Bart Wernaart (1983) is law and ethics lecturer for International Business and Management Studies at Fontys University of Applied Sciences. He is specialized in international law and ethics, and publishes regularly on these topics. Currently he holds a post-doc position for Fontys Smart Society. His research focusses on moral programming in smart technology. Next to his academic career, Bart is a professional musician. Bart lives together with his wife Sylvia son and daughter in Valkenswaard, the Netherlands.
